The company will showcase its NK-HiQ system at Nihon Kohden’s HIMSS18 booth (10925) in Las Vegas, March 5–8.

“We believe that wireless patient monitoring is the future of healthcare, and with our NK-HiQ system, we are at the forefront of that future,” said Dr. Wilson P. Constantine, CEO of Nihon Kohden America. ”With NK-HiQ, care providers can leverage their investment in existing 802.11 infrastructure to keep patients safe and clinicians informed no matter patient acuity level or location in the hospital. Ultimately, we expect this advanced wireless system to give clinicians the data they need at the point of care to move into a new era of preventive and predictive health.”

Built with the knowledge that patients have better outcomes when they ambulate(1) and receive the same level of physiological monitoring during transport as they do when in the ICU(2), the NK-HiQ system provides safe patient monitoring in virtually every area of the hospital. The system enables continuous remote monitoring and robust data collection even during transport, one of the most high-risk times in the care continuum. All monitors come “premium as standard,” or fully featured in base configuration, to quickly capture changes in patient condition. In addition, a proprietary algorithm in the wearable monitors helps detect falls and wandering.

Addressing the healthcare system’s need to maintain a comprehensive patient record, the NK-HiQ system’s smart design ensures patient data is captured and managed without compromise. The system cost effectively leverages hospitals’ investment in existing 802.11 infrastructure while supporting diverse Wi-Fi requirements, including bandwidth-preserving deployment on a shared SSID. Moreover, an innovative data backfill function and intelligent local monitoring mode switch are designed to protect patients and their data during periods of Wi-Fi coverage loss.

“Traditionally, Wi-Fi-based monitoring manufacturers have asked hospitals to create separate channels just for their systems, but our NK-HiQ system can actually coexist with other devices on the hospital's network and share that bandwidth,” said Harsh Dharwad, vice president and chief technology officer of Nihon Kohden America. “With NK-HiQ, wireless patient monitoring deployment is seamless, enabling care providers to focus on patients and not Wi-Fi requirements.”

With the ever-increasing threat of a cybersecurity breach, the NK-HiQ system was designed for security and interoperability, from product development to post-sales support. The system adheres to the latest wireless protocols, including 802.1X and WPA2 Enterprise with AES encryption and EAP authentication, and its central station runs on the Microsoft Window 10 secure operating system. Built to seamlessly integrate with the hospital enterprise, NK-HiQ keeps data protected by requiring authorized access to the Nihon Kohden network. Nihon Kohden cybersecurity domain experts validate the system’s security patches on a monthly basis.

Siecor Corning M12 Ribbon Fusion Splicer

Siecor Corning M12 Ribbon Fusion Splicer

Welcome to a Biomedical Battery specialist of the Fresenius Battery

The microprocessor controlled Siecor M12 Multifiber Fusion Splicer with battery such as Fresenius MCM440 PT Battery, Fresenius MCM440 OT Battery, Fresenius MCM550 ST Battery, Fresenius Optima VS Battery, Fresenius Optima ST Battery, Fresenius Optima MS Battery, Fresenius Optima PT Battery, Agilia Fresenius Kabi Battery, Fresenius RC1800AA05AA Battery, JMS SP-500 Battery, Zoncare ZQ-1201 Battery, Zoncare ZQ-1201G Battery is designed to create reliable, low-loss optical fiber splice of either individual fibers or fiber ribbons of up to twelve fibers.

Fiber alignment and the fusion splicing process are performed automatically, ensuring consistently good results . Pushing one button starts a sequence which automatically, aligns, optimizes and fuses up to 12 fibers, and then measures and tests the splices for strength. The total time of this operation is one minute.

After selecting the optimal fiber position(s), the M12 uses an electric arc to fuse, or splice the fibers together. The integrated tensile test then checks the strength of the splice point with a tensile force of 4.4 Newtons (a force of approximately 1 pound). A high contrast, color LCD video screen allows you to observe all of the fibers being spliced. Inserts in the fiber handlers are available for single fibers, and for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 -fiber ribbons. These inserts are matched in width to the respective ribbons.

The M12 is shipped with sets of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12 -fiber inserts installed in the fiber handlers. Because fiber ribbons can differ both in the number of fibers and in the properties of fiber coating, different fusion parameters are needed for different fiber ribbon types. The M12 provides 7 programs in which you can store different fiber parameter sets. In each program, you can program the fusion current curve for your given application.

Understand performance from the client connection
Most network trouble tickets start where the client device is connected to the network – where the device could be a PC, IP phone, printer, POS terminal, industrial equipment controller or a medical imager. Common issues include “doesn’t work,” “can’t connect,” “files unreachable,” “application unresponsive,” and “the network is slow.” The OneTouch assists you in troubleshooting these issues – or proving that the network is not the cause – by emulating the client device and assessing network performance.

Performance measurement from the cable to the cloud
The cause of a network problem can be elusive. The OneTouch AT identifies problem root cause by measuring and analyzing the performance of the critical network components: the network cabling, the delivery of Power over Ethernet (PoE), the connection to the nearest switch, the connection to the nearest access point, and the performance of key network services and server-based applications.

Copper and fiber optic cable testing
Understand cable performance by measuring twisted pair cable wiremap and length. Use cable identifiers and IntelliTone™ toning to locate and identify cables. Measure the optical power received through fiber optic cables. Verify the cleanliness of fiber optic connections by viewing connector end faces with the FiberInspector™ USB video probe.
